HMS Family Day 2008 at Austin Hill was full of its usual noises, chaos, smiles and laughter. And as usual, I ended with blue black this time on the 'bums'. Although no 'brutal ball' or 'brutal girl' (Oja) this time round, we did have 'brutal musical paper' and newly crowned 'brutal girl' (Zetty).

Funny reviews
Telematch - Anis said the rules should be 'no rules at all' since we didn't fully understand the rules (aiksyen je-saje nak confuse organiser). Mykidz liked the final game very much...anything went to the line including stones, mentos, immigration cards, etc.

Amazing Race - Clever Atiqa for finding a very good spot to hide. From one angle we could see her but she could still be invisible from other views. Sofea enjoyed the game so much so she slept all the way while Abah ran here and there with her in his arms.

Bowling - One lane was occupied by the seniors headed by our CEO, grandpa while another lane consisted by the youngsters. While Ylo showed her superhand in bowling, the cheek hubby went about groping and exposing his upper body. Yam/Mawi has 1 year to strengthen his arms so that the bowling ball never fall behind him instead of going towards the pins. While the adults played, kids kept themselves occupied by playing on their make-shift slide

Prize giving
Again the telematch's organiser left us confused with the announcement of the 1st and 2nd winners from the back!! I think we need to decipher the hidden codes...ha ha...Dr R's Hidden Codes or Dr R Dictionery!!

Mykidz would like to say thank you for all members towards making this family day another memorable one. We will definitely miss the sounds of laughter, merajuk, cries, etc. Hopefully we meet again in the next family day! Plus thank you for the pillows!

East Coast to Bedok Camp

Yesterday, we decided to take a walk (more like hike) following the east coast park connector. We took bus no. 31 and stopped near the flyover with slight drizzle falling from the sky. As usual, Abah led us through muddy pathways (claiming its the designer's fault that we were to walk this way). We reached East Coast Food Centre, had our lunch (Satay Haron, Ayam penyet n Fried Rice). Kidz had a short swim before we started our 'road march' in search of the Bedok underpass. Luckily Mak did not wear her kasut cantik...if not will be muddy too!!! We marched to Bedok Jetty where we saw Bibik Atiq n Bibik Wani 'sun tanning' on the beach. We stopped for a swim while we waited for their 'quick' packing up. We headed towards East Coast Venture Centre and OBS before we spotted the underpass....YAHOOOOOOOO!!!

The underpass led to the back of Bedok Camp. This was very nostalgic for me since I did these many many times when I was young....walked down from Kallang to Kg Bedok. Kidz and Abah started singing several army songs while Sofea listened only. By the time we reached Upper East Coast bus interchange, our legs were giving way. Lucky there's bus no. 13 and 853. The next time (in a day or two) we will be continuing our journey exploring upwards to Bedok Reservoir Park.

Today we went to visit Emma before heading down to Parkway Parade. The boys went to play tennis with Abah n friends. Emma n Sadiq were as cute as ever. Sofea received several playful slaps from Emma.

Aisyah turns 5!!

We celebrated Aisyah's birthday with a blackforest cake, rojak, pizza and soft drinks. As usual, Aisyah was pretty shy during the singing session. Ayu was the one very eager to blow the candles and cut the cake. We also sang advance birthday song to Sabryna (3rd Jan) and Danial (22nd Feb).

One week passed by quickly. Next week we will be celebrating Hari Raya Haji. There's still lots of clearing to do but we managed to squeeze several outings in between.

Abah had his 'testimonial match' with his past and present students at Bishan Park Sec. School. The boys were pretty excited to play a game against another team but they had to listen to Abah making his final speech to them.

Last Thursday, since it was so sunny, we went out to collect housing documents from lawyer's firm in HDB Hub, then took the car to drive down to Ikea Tampines to purchase fleece blanket for the kidz and finally picked up Shaffiq n family before heading down to Jacob Ballas Children Garden at Bukit Timah Road. We got a shock to find the tree house was built beside a bayan tree. That night, Danish gave us a fright by sleepwalking into our room at midnight. He couldn't remember about it when asked the next morning. Previously, he used to cry in fright with his big eyes popping out...later describing who made him like that!!! Scary!

Sofea is one happy baby to be carried around town either in the mummy sling or the most heaviest pram I ever bought. She getting heavy everyday plus the cheeks are so tempting to get several squeeze from me!!! Need to get new clothes for her soon!

Muhammad received a letter stating that he will receive a $100 voucher for his Good Progress Award. Good for him!! At last, he is getting something for his effort. Every year, the boys will receive letters for Edusave Merit Award but because of Abah's salary, they did not qualify to receive. We just get to frame the letters only.

We woke up early for breakfast and also to bathe Sofea for the 1st time. Normally Mak will come over in the morning to bathe her but since I'm much better plus Sofea is no longer the 'lembek' baby, I persevered to give it a try. While I held her, Abah cleansed the body with warm water. When finished, both of us realised that we forgot to wash her face!!! Ha ha...

We sent Muhammad to Punggol MRT at 11 am since today he started his GenY camp at Punggol Point. The turnout of children were more than last year's. Muhammad seemed nervous because he kept fidgetting with his bag almost 10 times. Mak said he's definitely nervous!

Danish also went camping starting today...where else...Mak's house! He was excited since can play PS2 with Hafiz. So left the 2 girls with us at home for the next 2 days.

Eversince the interview last week, Fuad had been asking if we read the article in the newspaper or not. Finally its out! Yesterday it appeared in Mind Your Body but they spelt his name, Ahmad Fouad!!! Today when mykidz saw the pic, Danish asked..."Why Cik Ad bake???"

Cranberry Brownie was part of his final year project. So many samples were brought home but lucky person to taste them was AYU! Cik Ad looked good like one Thai Actor according to my friend.

Sofea - 1 month 7 days

Today lil Sofea is 1 month and 7 days. She received a visit from Uncle Mamat, Abah's brother from Taman Jurong earlier today before heading down to Dr Balkis's clinic at 3 pm. Dr Balkis gave her the Hep B jab and also performed the circumcision. We were all surprised that Sofea weighed 4.2 kg. Its no wonder all of us have backache and hand ache when carrying her around. She's more alert of her surrounding...loves looking at all of us..can recognise voices and faces (i think)...starts to smile and cooing.

Rediscovering Bottle Neck Tree Farm

We decided to head down to the Bottle Neck Tree Farm at Lentor this morning after the kidz finished their work. They packed their change of clothes plus seedless grapes. The kidz did their fishing while me n Abah tried our hand at prawning. No prawns ate our bait so tough luck cannot eat bbq prawns. Sofea slept peacefully since its quite cool and windy. This december, we wanted to revisit those fave places for the last time before we made our big MOVE in Jan.

Yeah...Sofea is ONE MONTH old. She is very aware of her surroundings and can recognise our voices. There was one time when she was crying for attention, then Abah walked in the room, she just stopped and waited for him. Clever girl!!

We showed her off to some of our neighbours while we were taking a breath of fresh air at the playground today. For the mini celebration, I ordered cupcakes and Mak cooked bubur merah n putih while Abah read the prayers during our lunch.

Danial and Aisyah finally get to meet and kiss Sofea since most times they were at the child care centre. Danial wanted us to leave the baby with him but blamed the father for not buying milk. At least both of them not 'geli' to kiss Sofea unlike si Ayu.

The boyz went with Abah to the family soccer match at Bukit Timah where they were joined by the rest of the team members. Both Pak Ngah (Saidillah) and Pak Busu (Saiful) came too. At the end of the game, Abah received a cut by the nose and its quite bloody. Fuad said its only a surface cut so mother suggested to apply minyak gamat. Outdoor Specialists Awards Nite 2007

The whole family (including Sofea) attended Abah's soccer kakis annual awards nite at CCAB Bukit Timah aka his old campus. Everyone had a jolly good time. The kidz get to play with their own kakis, the mummies talking to each other while the daddies joked around while making sure everything ran smoothly. The group unveiled the new jersey for 2008 and gave Abah his no. 19 jersey.

18th Nov = 12th wedding anniversary

Last Sun, 18th Nov, marked our 12 years of marriage. The 3 older MyKidz helped to prepare a sumptous yet simple dinner. Sabryna went shopping with Abah while the 2 boys helped out in cooking and preparing the table.

Danish said "YEAH!" when he found out that he is 2nd in position for his class 2C this year. As usual Band 1 for English & Maths while Band 2 for Malay. He has been practising getting his trophy for prize giving day.

Muhammad did consistently for this year having scored Band 1 for Eng, Maths & Science and Band 2 for Malay. He was asked to choose Higher Malay for next year.

Both of them went for the prize giving day today with Dr Yaccob Ibrahim as the guest of honour. Muhammad has his band performance while Danish has been practising saying thank you to Dr Y. Abah, Mak, Aiza, Ayu and Sabryna were present to see both of them in action.

A day at the Istana

Muhammad's school band was scheduled to perform at the Istana for this year's Deepavali celebration. Sabryna n Danish went with Abah while Mak had to wait for Fuad to wake up so she went down later. So that left both me n Sofea at home since I'm not ready enough to step out from the house. This will be Muhammad's second last performance. His last performance with his friends will be the prize giving ceremony on 14th November.

Sofea is 8 days old today

Being 8 days old already, both me and Abah have realised that she the best baby compared to the brothers n sister.

Muhammad - Woke up every 2 hours at night but petty with milk!
Danish - First 3 nights, cried like kena cubit. After that slept quite ok but
heavy on breastfeeding during day time! Ouch my breasts!
Sabryna - Hardly cried at night although bit petty with milk n food.
Sofea - Sleeps well during day n night only waking up for changing diapers n milk.

I realised that going through the C-section was tougher than normal delivery. I have to watch my stomach area carefully and I have to avoid coughing, sneezing or anything that my jiggle the stomach muscles. Plus I've been supplied with Pati Ikan Haruan which tasted yucks! Lucky I alternate it with my essence of chicken.

Oops Sofea is up for her 6 o'clock milk.....

All thanks (probably) to the Pasir Ris event that helped in getting Sofea to start coming out from the mummy's tummy after sitting there for 40 weeks and 3 days (the longest ever)!

At 4 am, the contractions begun. Thought its the same ones like last night which went off in the morning but I started bleeding. So Anis and the rest of the kids were activated to quickly wake up, quick shower, grabbed a book each and went down for the cab. We managed to get one quickly but alas the taxi driver seemed panicky until he did not know where Eastshore Hospital is. When we reached there, he parked also anyhow in front of the Emergency door.

Straight away I was wheeled up to the labour ward where the nurses get me ready for the C-section. Doc was alerted and initially he scheduled the operation for 7.15 am. Wah...I thought I had to suffer the pain from 5.15 to 7.15 but at 5.30, my water bag burst and Sofea was very eager to come out. The nurses were running here and there...there seemed to be so much commotion that I had to close my eyes to block them away. Doc came but I could only showed a peace sign with my hands....after that another doctor came in and put me to sleep. The next minute I woke up, everybody around me were busy but at least don't look hurried. I asked what happened and one of them said I delivered already. Then I fell asleep again.

I was sent to the ward and doc came by to say hello but as usual I'm still drowsy. Sofea also came to say hello to me too and get her milk. Now that we are back at home, its time to fully recuperate. Thank you fo visiting us at the hospital.

Hectic Weekend

Over the weekend, we were very busy receiving guests both on Sat and Sun. The kidz managed to squeeze some time to study for their madrasah's exams. Then on Sun, we spent few hours under a huge tent away from the heavy downpour, posing for the New Paper's journalist and photographer. Look out for the New Paper Weekend Warrior's report. Even after the hectic weekend, there still no signs of Sofea coming out to meet the family.

Update on Sofea's arrival

Thought today will be the last prenatal visit to the clinic but....Sofea's delivery date has been pushed to as far as 1st November. That is if she does not decide to come out before the 1st. Almost 3kg plus and so C-section will be the likeliest choice of delivery due to the size.

So there we were planning when the right date. Doc has event on Sat at Istana plus I want to carry the poms-poms on Sunday. Abah has school camp from 29th to the 31st Oct..so that left us with the 1st November.

Ok HMS family, prepare for one more pom-pom this Sunday......FOR ME!!

Danish's surprise party

Today we went to Tanamera Crest where 2 fairy godmothers were busy preparing a surprise birthday party for Danish. He has been asking around who are these fairy godmothers....

We ate chocolate fondue with strawberries, grapes, bananas, kiwis, french fries and the kids ate burger n McChicken wings from Macs. After cutting the cake from Primadeli, they went down to the pool for a swim.

Danish received a 'Ben 10" toy from his Bibik Lin while Aunty Linah bought the cake for him.... He's all smiles!!!

Update on my pregnancy

Just after 2 weeks, the weight of the baby has jumped from 2.3 kg to 2.9 kg. Position wise still sitting cross legged with head up. The labour movements have already begun (probably from all those walking during raya). But since the buttocks have not yet sunken downwards, I still need to do a lot more walking these few days.

Hmmm...mak planned to slap Sofea's buttocks when she comes out. Everyone in Mykidz are anxiously waiting including our 'associate' in Perth who is waiting for the good news.

On the 10th of October 17 years ago (1990), a little boy named Zohri was born. MyKidz send out birthday hugs and kisses (to be claim during raya time) to our fave and only Abang Long. May you grow taller and handsome so that can tackle pretty girls.

Aiyah....had another scare this morning when I woke up. Thought that my water bag had burst but NOT!!!

Last Fri we bought a new baby stroller that can double up as a day bed...Abah had a crash course to open and shut the stroller. Then we dropped by Cold Storage to check out the newborn diapers. We were so glad that Drypers has come out with newborn size. This was what we compared :

Pampers Newborn - $0.46 per piece
Fitti Newborn - $0.40 per piece
Mummypokko Newborn - $0.36 per piece
Drypers Newborn - $0.26 per piece

So we going to stick to Drypers for economical purposes plus we have been using the brand for the older kids and happy with it.

Danish's dilemma last nite

Danish can sometimes be extra funny...last nite, he bought for himself mee soto for buka. Aiza asked for some but he said 'No'. I reminded him that his birthday is coming up on the 17th Oct and he already decided what to ask from Aiza. He thought for a long time and still said 'No'!!!. We all laughed at him...he probably be thinking that since Raya coming, collections will be in, no need to depend on the elders to get his precious present (a spy toy!!).

Kidz nowadays...they know where to get their own resources!

Ok since we have painted our hall yellow and green, i thought it is more appropriate to get a similar coloured skin for MyKidz. This should be less coourful than the 'PSP' lookalike.

Check up results

Went for my 37th week checkup this afternoon. Baby is stil 2.3 kg but alas the head is upstairs. Doc said might come out buttocks first if she does not turn this two weeks. He was still positive of the outcome since the baby is still small size so insya-allah no complications.
Now I must start preparing myself up for the possible breech normal birth. Pray for the best!

Ayu Maisarah turns TWO today

Ayu is two years old today. After breaking fast we treated ourselves with bubur kacang, chocolate ice-cream and Sara Lee Chocolate cake. Ayu was very shy when we kept singing to her the birthday song....CUTE AYU!!! May you learn how to talk more clearly and properly plus not to bully Mak so often everyday!

Life of a heavily pregnant lady

I'm have 30 more days to go...now feeling very very heavy especially nightime. Daytime not so bad since I can move around doing bit here and there. Still got strength to mop the house once in a while but after that lepak for 3 hours! So at night, I become like Cinderella with a cramped face and a cramped stomach. I just want to lie down after solat Maghrib for one or two hours and then I'll be back on my feet again til midnight.

Zoe Tay supposedly due to give birth the same timing as me but she gave birth 2 days ago. Baby boy was 3+ kg...if wait til end of month, should reach 4 kg agaknye! Congrats to her for becoming a mother for the second time.

Sunday Surprise for Danish

Yesterday morning while the kidz were at Madrasah, I received a phone call from the Central Library wanting to talk to Danish. Inside my heart immediately said...Alamak! Must pay book fine! But it was good news. Danish was one of the lucky winner for the Word Puzzle that I entered for all of them last July.

So when we met up to go down to the library after Madrasah (Sun's routine), Danish was guessing that the prize could be PSP or Xbox or Game Boy!!! But upon reaching there, it was only a HIPPO BOOKMARK!!!! Irregardless, Danish still smiled for getting something. Better get him to dream some more for that PSP/Xbox/Game Boy again!!!

Last night we 'buka' with Abah's two bros, Saidillah and Saiful (aka Pak Ngah and Pak Busu to the kidz). Initially we called up Saiful only but since Saidillah was released from camp, he decided to join us at home. Otherwise, Saiful had to break fast alone since my mum-in-law normally works at night everyday except on Sun.

The kidz enjoyed their company since it had been a long time since we have dinner together. They are grown up now so they have their own activities. When they were younger, we normally got them to tag along with us til people thought they were our children. Ha ha!!!

Tonight, since its Friday and I have to send Sabryna for her weekly swimming lessons, we going to eat at mother's house. Saiful will be joining us also since its more enjoyable to eat together than alone. Hopefully Ayu doesn't get excited and get mak stressed up while having dinner. Ayu has that talent of teasing mak and she never stops even after kena scolding.

Went over to gynae for my checkup today. Now in my 34th week..no water retention (thanks to me doing LDT almost every night) but starting to get cramps on the calves. Sofea's weight is estimated to be 2.3kg now. Her head has moved upwards while the feet were below. Hopefully she'll turn around soon. My weight is only at 55 kg. Bought my baju kurung just now at TKC. After a short shopping spree with Abah, we went home to prepare dinner.

I had two requests for today's dinner...Danish wanted chicken curry while Abah wanted Ayam Lemak Cili Padi. Finally managed to get Danish to eat lasagna after promising him that tomorrow will be chicken curry for him.

Now I am feeling so full with food and water....

Congrats to lil Sabryna for fasting for 2 whole days (Sat and Sun). Although on Sat, she cried because 'tak boleh tahan'during the last 10 mins but Sun went without any crying or weeping for her. Se even came up with an unusual name for her food request...."RICE GORENG"!!!

Abah's Father - Bakri Bin Senin

Last night at 12 midnight, we were woken up by the ringing of the phone. It can only be one thing, something major happened. Since I could not get up fast, what's with the 'water melon' getting big, Abah had to get up to answer the phone.

Sad news...
Abah's father, Pak Bakri, fell in the toilet and passed away at 10 pm. His legs were getting weaker so normally he was helped to the toilet but last night, he attempted to go there without Makcik's help. He's almost in his 70s now. Although we only get to see him during raya only, we all remembered him as the father and grandfather who is ultra quiet and good natured. Never raise his voice when he speaks. One image I remembered of him was sitting quietly for almost 1 hour sandwiched between his 2 elder sons (Abah and big bro) watching TV and not speaking to each other. Could see that the 3 of them enjoyed the silent bonding that they had during that rare moment.

He left behind his loving wife, Makcik Asmah, 4 adult sons (Ady Anuar, Anistino, As and Mamat), 2 daughter-in-laws and 8 grandchildren.

Flashback : Coincidently, in 1998, we were also woken up at midnight with that fateful phone news of A/Y Pak Said (Abah's stepfather) leaving us also at 10 pm. Al-Fateha for both fathers that played significant roles in Abah's life. Amin

Pejam Pelik...now it is already August! I'm nearly 30 weeks preggie and the season finale is coming oh so near. This time round lucky no bad moments of leg cramps in the middle of the night. Only the constant trips to the toilet day and night that's bugging me! Weather seems to be as hot as ever. Every Friday evening I need a lot of self control from jumping into the swimming pool when I send Sabryna for her swimming lesson. Thnks to Bibik for letting me know better not 'berendam' during the last trimester.

I think lil Sofea is enjoying herself kicking me all day and night. Although my tummy is getting big, but I seem to be able to walk quite fast until kena sound by one makcik at the market. She so afraid that I might trip and fall!

Being cleaning and cleaning the house, throwing things that not needed and getting ready to empty the house. My paternal uncles and aunts are constantly asking when are we leaving for Perth. I guess they are the ones who are excited since I am the second member that will be staying there soon.

Tomorrow and Friday I will be stuck with the boys since they don't have to go to school due to PSLE Oral. Anyway, they will be very busy doing tons of homework and revision for their next week's CA2. At least now that they are older, we don't have to keep on pushing them to study. They know what they need to do.

How we celebrate 42nd National Day?

First stop - Lunch at Chai Chee (Majlis Tahlil) with Nasi Ambeng as the main menu. This time the turnout was huge (almost 50 taxi drivers) becoz the tuan rumah (Cik Jaafar) invited his members from the PADI group. Amazing thing was that we get to meet Cik Jaafar's father (Tok Said) who is in his 90s but his reciting was as clear as ever. Grandma had fun talking to Ayu who kept her company during the morning half. Sabryna played with Diana and she sang Mak Busu a happy birthday song (but no cake, kesian).

After that we wet to the 'Four Chopsticks' to see the fireworks. It was beautiful as ever and we ended the night with a bus ride home just in time to watch the 9pm Chinese serial and Troy.

Will cherish the events because we may not be able to get another taste of nasi ambeng or the fireworks next year....uhuk uhuk uhuk

Down with flu since yesterday...at least now I felt so much better. Went down to Raffles Hospital for tour of the maternity ward. Have to decide next week if I am going to change the venue for the delivery in October.

View wise...very good!! Makanan all Halal plus got Banquet and Coffee Beans downstairs. Ambiance...very quiet! 2-bedded rooms seem to be more popular than the 4-bedded. Abah said 1-bed room is not an option for me. I even asked about the ambulance service just in case I go into the post pregnancy bleeding again (hopefully not for the 3rd time in my life!).

YEah...we came back from KL tonite. Abah's soccer team lost 4-2 to the veteran players from J2FC (KL natives) on Saturday. After that its all shopping at Mid-Valley City, Berjaya Times, kids having fun at Cosmos World and we ended our trip on Mon with another shopping at Ayer Hitam (don't know who's idea was this!!!).

What we bought - Silk scarves for Mummy, Blouses for Mummy, Chocolates for All (including one with durian in it) and lots of food. Kids had a blast in the coach. All very the noisy with Sabryna leading the pack with a game of 'Simon Says'!

Memorable moment - Abah got separated from us at Mid Valley and being big, the four of us were confused on how to get out from the building!

Father's Day Celeb

Sabryna's school had organised a Father's Day Celebration at the centre on 13th June. The fathers had to help the kids make healthy sandwiches and salad. Later they played games. Ayu and family also dropped in. Ayu busied herself by running around and did her own exploration while the rest of us played games..

Cyclone in Oman weakens through Arabian Sea
High waves crashes on the rocks as a cyclone approaches Oman. About 7,000 people have been evacuated from coastal areas where Cyclone Gonu was expected to make landfall. -- AFP
DUBAI - CYCLONE Gonu pummelled Oman on Wednesday, halting oil and gas exports for a second day and forcing thousands to flee the coast, but weakened as it moved through the Arabian Sea, a major route for Gulf oil shipments.
The storm, which peaked to a maximum-force Category Five hurricane on Tuesday, has been downgraded to a Category One hurricane, with a maximum sustained wind speed of about 170kmh.
Oman's meteorology department said the centre of the storm made landfall in Oman around midnight and was heading north-west to Muscat.
It brought torrential rains, strong winds and high waves.
The cyclone is expected to dissipate on Thursday.
'It is moving along the coastal areas to Muscat where we have had heavy rain since last night. The eastern region has absorbed most of the impact but we expect the rain to continue tonight and early tomorrow as the cyclone moves north-west over Oman, said Director of Oman's meteorology department, Ahmed al-Harthi.
'There could be local rainfall on Friday but it should have finally dissipated by then,' he said.
The Weather Channel had earlier forecast that the cyclone would make landfall in southern Iran.
But the Omani weather centre said it was likely to keep moving north-west along the heavily-populated Omani coast where heavy rainfall had turned the main roads of Muscat into rivers.
Cyclone Gonu disrupted shipping, pushing oil prices toward US$71 (S$10.71) a barrel on Wednesday, their highest in nearly two weeks.

Updates from Oman 'resident' aka Nyonya
It has been raining...hospital advised to pack some clothings and let the staff stay at the hospital. But Nyonya has been returning home in the rain after her shift at the hospital. Being playing in the rain...mak said she 'jakun', macam tak pernah main hujan!! Met and killed a baby scorpion in her house too.. Her house and hospital are few hours away from the beach front so not so affected by the cyclone except for the rain. Hopefully the cyclone will pass over Oman soon in the next few days!!!

Getting heavier each day with lesser sleep at night...what's with the frequent trips to toilet and baby movements. I realised that the baby will sleep well around 5 am onwards and that will be when I get to catch the best shortest sleep ever.

Few days ago, Fuad n mother told us the funniest story ever about Zohri aka Abg Long. He started work a week ago at KFC Potong Pasir CC (yep..my previous estate now boasts Macs and KFC!!!). The night before he started work, he told mother that he dreamt being chased by a GIANT KFC CHICKEN! Poor Abg Long...this is his first job ever and being him, he get very excited in his own special funny way. The kidz laughed like mad when they heard this story.

This morning, Abah and Muhd went for the Safra Runway Cycling at Paya Lebar Airbase. Of course, the rest of us were still sleeping since we watched the Star Wars Marathon last night that lasted after midnight. Sleep sounded better than having to watch all these people cycle. They met Sunari at the event...Lin probably like us snoozing away at home!! he he

Tomorrow and Tuesday, Danish and Sabryna will start their Alive Hols Programme at Ansar during the morning half. Last Fri, Sabryna started her first swimming lesson and she was so good at it being not at all afraid to be in the pool. The instructor even let her swam with the board in the lap pool which is very deep for her. Danish was very impressed...he by the way had a one to one coaching from Abah. A lot of bargaining activity went on..as usual.

On Sat, we went to visit Uncle at NUH. He looked better since all the stuff in the stomach had been pumped out. Looking forward to going back home and eat (hmmmm...sampai craved for agar-agar!!!).

Abah's cousin, Isma Wati just smsed us saying that she kena warded in TTSH for suspected dengue. Hopefully she gets better soon...

ok...enough for the updates since now my back is feeling the pain from sitting too long. Must move around.

One more day and after that school hols....
The 2 boys (Muhd and Danish) received their report books yesterday where I get to chat with their teachers for a while.

Danish - Very good boy...only need to brush up on his Malay. He seemed overwhelmed with the many Malay words that he is not sure of what they mean. Kuih Baulu become Kuih Bunga for him. That's Danish, folks!!

Muhd - Overall still the same person according to teacher but need to improve further in Malay (what's new!!) and Science.

Sabryna - Well this lil girl does not have any exams but most of the time her teacher feedbacked that she such a bright girl. She's able to write and speak English and Mandarin very well. Good girl!!

Today I'm going to collect my new passport but before that need to visit my grandma at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She was admitted last night due to low sugar. I received phone call from my aunt who looks after her this morning. Ingatkan nak ajak overnight at East Coast again but looks like we have to postpone til she's better.

Yesterday after Madrasah, we went to watch SPIDEY3. My back pain from sitting for 2 hours plus rasa nak go toilet pun ada. Me and Danish that is...The story was good and since we already knew that Harry died, so no suprise but very very sad moment. After that we decided to eat our dinner at Secret Recipe. My tom yum came late (others had all their food in the stomach). So while I tried to finish the spicy tom yum, the rest read their library books. All in all we spent more than 1 hour eating..

Everyone (including Abah) are counting the final days before the school holidays start. Ohhhh..we had so much fun at Iqin's house. Eating, watching "Jgn Pandang Belakang" together, had my prenatal massage from Busu and most importantly, exercising our jaws!! Thank you to both big and lil hostesses of the house for opening the doors to us all.

Flu Bug

I'm down with flu for the first time in how many months, I think. I take good care of myself hoping that I won't fall sick but this time my body has surrendered itself to the flu bug.

Went down for my monthly gynae checkup yesterday. Had my blood taken for the usual blood test and we did a scan for the baby's gender. Good news is that we going to have a partner for Sabryna. She was pretty excited that it is going to be Sofea. The last time we did a scan, the baby was munching away but yesterday, we could see the hands kept covering the face. So cute...until the doctor said that this baby was too shy to be photograph.

So now I am going to do a bit of resting. Plus today..is Hafiz's 23rd birthday!!! We probably join him for the cake cutting event later at night. So to FATSO...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! He soooo excited nak potong kek til he wore the pants terbalik!!!!

Exams Fever....

There this saying..."Orang lain yang exams, orang lain yang sakit!!!" For me..sakit telinga and mulut..coz there will be all this calling.."Muhd dah belajar belum! Danish...stop playing and concentrate! Sabryna..stop sucking your thumb (oops salah orang!)." Lucky its only for this week..halfway we gave up all this shouting and just shove them with the practice papers with instruction to finish them in whatever timing they want to! But they have been good..dutifully finished their stuff before breaking loose.

Actually, we have one member down with chicken pox recently. That's Aisyah!! Poor silent girl! Both brother and sister cannot go to child care (Danial tak kena but kena ban from coming!). We took time off from Madrasah Aljuneid since they had 11 cases of HFMD. Macam-macam!! Anyway, Abah's colleague's son just had HFMD for the 2nd time. Ayu is stuck with Mak for several weekends since she also cannot go back home because of the chicken pox. She's getting chatty nowadays except we don't understand a single thing coming out from her.

On 1st May, the five of us overnight at East Coast with our Nyai (Grandma). Kesian..her tent kena flooded by the morning rain. Cik Yat said the husband set up the tent wrongly. This May we seemed to have more gatherings on the paternal side of my family. Last Sun, we attended Maulud and eat Afghanistan Briyani at Blk 310 Tampines and this Sat, there will be another BBQ at Downtown East to celebrate Mother's Day (with special request from me...Mee Siam!). Its good since my cousin and his wife from Melbourne are in town for a month after 3 years apart. I realised I'm not that close to these paternal cousins of mine but then we can sit together and talk. Probably the age gap (at least 10 years apart)..all of them were babies when I was a teenager.

There's so much to clean up in our house. With the opportunity of disposing our clothes from Syurgawijr, we had cleaned up most of our wardrobes. Books in the study room have been sent to Iqin's and Danial's houses. We had several requests from would-be tenants (from Oman) that we are looking into. Now that I am in my second trimester and having a burst of 'hidden' energy, I am clearing bit by bit (after getting my afternoon naps).

Being cooking lunch and dinner almost everyday. Abah is a bit frustrated since his calf injury is still around (2 weeks tak main bola babe!!!). His medical subsidy exhausted already with all the physiotherapy visits. Plus Hong Kong trip tak menjadi since one participant withdrew (hee hee). To redeem his pain, he signed up for a soccer trip up in KL from 16th to 18th June before his LTC camp starts on 19th June for a week. Busy busy...

What we have done so far without a car???

One week came and went for this family who had been stripped off from their one luxury in their lives...the CAR!!
How did we survived so far???
- Abah = Being riding to school every day. Colleagues were both surprised and concerned. Surprised probably because now they noticed that Abah was not the last ones to arrive to school every day (no more late comer tag for him).
- Me = No changes. Since I have my own transport budget every month..I combined both taxi and bus rides whenever I needed to travel. And since I am on long term 'vacation', my travelling moments are not quite limited.
- Kidz = Muhammad not so bad since he had experienced car-less era during his growing up days. However, Danish and Sabryna are sad. They had been overly pampered by the car.

Anyway...its good preparation for our years ahead.

Upcoming news :
Abah is very happy and all smiles because his overseas course to HK from 2nd Jun to 10th Jun has been approved.

My doc's appointment last week showed that the baby in the tummy is growing well and when scanning time, we could see the mouth opening and closing as if he/she was munching away.

Bye Bye Dear Carens

Today was the saddest day of the week where we had to say our final farewell to our dear 'Carens'. It will be exported out to its new owner in Trinidad Tobago sometime later in the month or so. This car was unlike all the other cars that we had..it did not gave us any problems during the past 4 years. The only parts missing would be the mud shields..which we replaced but because of Abah's constant powerful reverse, they never sticked!

Carens had brought us to KL, PD, Melaka, Cameron Highlands, Fraser's Hills and many more memorable destinations. Carens will always be in our hearts....

So now this family is left with no vehicle for the rest of the year until we leave for Perth next year. How will we survive??? Abah has started his old routine of riding his bicycle to and fro school (hurray for park connectors..away from the busy roads) and the rest of us will be enjoying more bus and MRT rides.

This just in, it is a blessing in disguise for this wonderful family to have a new member joining in the year of the PIG 2007. So yes people, there wont be a family of 5 but a family of 6 members somewhere in October.

Before the "news" was confirmed, the mother bear had dis odd desire to eat salad after she saw a lady munching on a big bowl of salad while they were at The Coffee Bean. She had a bowl of salad from Breeks but somehow or rather, she still craves the salad from The Coffee Bean. The mother of the mother bear was at lost with dis person, but because they were too tired to understand wat the message behind dis weird cravings, they went home. Then came the news, with the mother bear came out with a test kit dat showed a 'line'..oh oh....

S'pore Vs Thailand

Came home in a hurry tonight (kena kerja lambat). Not for the Nasi Lemak Adam Road that Abah bought for dinner but to watch the 2nd half of the game on TV.

Very the dramatic but then not surprising also. Lucky never hit that referee. Thai people are generally gentle but once you provoke them...TOO GARANG! Remind me of my nyai..dah 80 plus but her temper nobody can beat. I always joke with my aunts who's looking after her at Chai Chee house..."Orang Siam memang garang! Tengok aje nyai tu..tangan & mulut banyak pedas!"

But Thai people are also the politest of them all. They show respect especially when we step into their country. I think I may be like them since I am probably 40% Thai..respect and polite to those who treat me good but fierce when being provoke.

Nevertheless, it is the most memorable soccer match to remember whenever we talk about the National Stadium after its being torn down.

S'pore Vs M'sia

We were part of the Kallang Roar and Wave last night...punya lah ramai orang - 65,000 people altogether! The M'sian supporters was kept guarded by the Cisco all the time! Takut kena rempuh ha ha ha.

My summary of the game :-
No good finishings most times.
S'pore players kept aiming at goalkeeper instead of the goal post (no wonder he caught most times).

Things I learnt on that day :-
Power of supporters very important (no matter big or small!).
Lionel Lewis was an ex-student of Abah at Bishan Park along with Nor Alam Shah.
S'pore customs very clear on that day coz everyone stayed in S'pore and not going to JB.

We met many people that we knew e.g.
Abah's students (very happy to see him coming!).
Mawi and bros.
Hajar and friends.
Abah's long-time friend (who has 5 small kids...marvellous!)

Back to school

2006 came and went. Tomorrow will be the first day of school term in 2007. Mykidz very much look forward to head back to school although for Abah, its a different story!

Children's books in the bags, shoes and uniforms all lined out. Bus uncle already called up to remind the usual time and pick up point plus the increase in bus fare. Sabryna will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow as a K1 gal while Muhammad will be in Pri 4 and Danish enjoying his year in Pri 2. Abah will be co-form teacher to his 'fave and best class', 4T2. Good luck to all in 2007.

HjSalleh Family Day 2007 @ Bukom

What happened in Bukom - 1st to 2nd January 2007???

1) HjSalleh Family Day was celebrated at a different venue...with help from our very own imported 'orang minyak', Wak Sam. I think the Shell people must be thinking - "Ini family banyak kecoh lah!"

2) Since Raya Qurban was just a day away, we had kambing kebabs for BBQ + sotong + prawn + nasi lemak + mee + ayam + many more!

3) Learning journey never ends even before the BBQ. We started the fire with a new firestarter from Giant. For those who want to BBQ in future, stick to the old 'damak'. Still the best!

4) Kids loved their very own telematch organised by 'Abang Kadir'. Danish vomitted from swallowing the tepung while Sabryna's arms were aching from putting upwards too long!

5) Hatim, being the observer all this while, showed off what he had been observing by kicking the soccer ball to the sea. That's a GOOD send off!

6) Mykidz won the championship of the Badminton game. We planned out our strategies well and right now nursing all the aching muscles. Abah must be thankful for the early trainings with the kambings at Ansar.

7) Congrats to Abah for hitting 110 pins (2nd place after Yan)! Also thanks to the kambings.

8) Our team (Bawang Merah) won the Captain's Ball. Me was sent out flying several times after being hit by 2 female bodybuilders, Oja and Bibik. I think we should try playing rugby the next time round. Game tak seberapa but tekak and badan shacked after lots of screaming and pushing and hugging!

9) Our formidable goalkeeper, Cik Mat, was once more in top form. Blocked all the goal attempts except the last one. Terror lah brader!

10) Again Cik Mat...he never failed to show up in every rooms except his looking for food and drinks.

Best hilarious happening :-
Cik Mat played with the lights in our unit and when Mak and Busu went to check out which one of the kids were doing that, he hid himself in the cupboard and BOO them!!!

Hari Raya Qurban 2006

Hari Raya Qurban this year was celebrated with a difference. Instead of going to pay our respects to the elders, we decided to spend our time and energy at Ansar Mosque. Here are some of the comments from MyKidz :

Abah :) It was a firsthand experience. Excited to be in a thick of action. I placed the number tags on each goat's leg (still alive and kicking) and carried them to the slaughter section. At the end of the day, my legs (especially thighs) were aching. Luckily, my private therapist helped me to relieve those aching muscles.

Mama :) Very exciting but quite disappointing since I was not able to be in the dirty yet very exciting slaughtering process. I did not mind being down and dirty my hands but I was already given the task to count MONEY!! I think if they allowed the ladies to participate in the challenging process, I will be the first to volunteer. But too bad lah...

Muhammad :) Happy because I could see the goats being slaughtered. They were smelly and very bloody. I enjoyed myself very much!

Danish :) I felt very, very happy too because I loved to eat cooked goats meat.

Sabryna :) Since I followed Mak and Cik Ad went out jalan-jalan Hari Raya, I was happy also. Maybe next time when I am bigger, I too can join the rest of my family at the mosque.

From Cameron headed towards Port Dickson...going towards Tiara Beach Resort. Punyalah ramai rakyat...but we found out 400 guests just checked out. Good place for kids...swimming pools best with slides. Also there's kids room..where Danish showed off his new found skill as second champion carrom player after Mama.

Mama went to the spa for 2 hours scrub and massage with ear candling and facial. Syok juga..release all the tiredness. Tidur malam lena sekali! Yang paling best...there's a guest kid singer from Hainan, China. She belted out lagu Isabella by Search like a pro!

We had a good rest at night and headed towards Singapore after lunch. Along the highway, hujan on and off until near JB, where it rained all the way. We took the 2nd link around 7 plus..with heavy rain and thunder lightning..a bit scary. Dared not stop for dinner. We decided we would have dinner at Adam (our confort zone).

Reached home happy but penat. Slept early without even thinking of taking out all the dirty clothes. Anyway, the rain made us cool and sleepy already!

Just finish breakfast at Swiss Inn...bought 2 Hard Rock T-shirts for Mama and 1 Nike sunglasses for Abah at the Pasar Malam last night. Also took LRT to KLCC...saja jalan-jalan lepaskan boring! Now waiting for Abah to finish 'melabur' so that we can check out and fetch our car at Swiss Garden Hotel. We going up Cameron after that. Abah spent the last night memorising the map to Cameron..

Hilarious story 2 -
Our room had no night light. Everything was in total pitch darkness. Kalau buka mata rasa macam tutup mata. Cannot see anything even our own hands. Danish slept 'ganas' so Abah..the unlucky one to sleep beside him, had to tahan his kicking and kicking!

Update Day 1

We have left for KL at 7 plus in the morning and right now we are just going to have our late lunch. Staying one night only at Swiss Inn, right in the middle of Petaling Street. Only one disadvantage, no parking facilities. One that the hotel staff recommended was a public multi storey car park. So we decided to park the car overnight at the sister hotel, Swiss Garden, which is just 15 mins walk. Lenguh...

Tomorrow after breakfast, we going to go up Cameron.

Most hilarious story for today -
We drove right into the Petaling Street..into the bustling crowd! After 6 pm, they close the road for pasar malam.

Sabryna's transition to K1

Our little noisy girl naik K1 today. Pejam celik dah besar ini budak. Only thing, the hair still tipis!!! During the parent-teacher session, Sabryna's teacher praised her. Said she can converse very well both in Chinese and English. Ask a lot of questions. Also we bought a mini telekung for the weekend Madrasah next year. She looks so grown up wearing it. 3rd Jan 2007, she will turn BIG 5!!

Trip Down the Memory Lane

Today both me and Abah made our trip down to Dr Aziz's Clinic at Kembangan Plaza. I think it has been almost 4 years since we stepped into the clinic. Before anyone start guessing the wrong stuff...I AM NOT PREGNANT!!!...There I said it! But these 2 men kept saying the 'P' word the moment they met...I have to keep telling them to stop encouraging each other to discuss the 'P' word. I am surprised that they can get bonded rather easily over this issue. Stress RabakZ.

And I don't know whether this is a sign for something but this morning, the boys were watching Discovery Channel and the programme was about child birth. They actually kept still watching how the baby was delivered! Later Danish said the baby came out from the mummy's back side. Isshhhh!!!

I felt just like the time when I went down for my pre-natal checkups during Muhammad's and Sabryna's time. What a weird feeling...

The most funniest moment I could remembered was when both the Doc and Abah went missing at East Shore Hospital just when Sabryna was ready to meet the world. Nurse frantic gila somemore can asked me to 'stop breathing' til she could get hold of both of them. When both walked into the room, satu-satu punya muka macam tak bersalah gitu. Poor nurse!!!

Anyway..its amazing to see that the Doc does not age so much except for the grey hairs. I remembered when we were at VJC, we girls practically stopped and stared at how cute he was when he came to fetch the wife. He gave us his email address to keep in touch when we move away. Also he still never stop praying I get pregnant AGAIN!!

Job satisfaction

In the past, I used to be like this at work. Its not that I don't like what I was doing (Audit) but rather the whole viscious cycle that left me feeling UNBALANCED!! Things have changed especially these past few years. I truly enjoyed this year especially!! I have never regretted switching line..

This month alone, I am ever so busy with work at the CST centre plus attending courses. My Diploma in Aromatherapy finally get started after a very long wait. Plus my Jap boss sponsored my Lymphatic Drainage & Cranial Sacral courses. Now I look forward to seeing every one of my clients...wanting to share with them what I have learned so far towards making their health better.

So far, I have helped several people lost weights...gain weight...no more PMS...no more stress...

Upcoming challenge that the BOSS has coerced me to doing is giving a 20-minute presentation to a group of lawyers on 4th Dec. Now cracking my brain thinking & thinking of what to say!!! Salah cakap boleh kena sue on the spot!!!

Sharing What We Did Last Week

The past week:
1. Spent one day in JB Ciy Sq WITHOUT the car plus 3 kidz. Had our fav sushi lunch, watched HP FT, Popular & back home by train. Supper at e train station cafe. Memorable thing was e quietest one bukak cerita kelakar & everyone ketawa terkekeh2.

Furama Riverfront

Ansar's Jubilee Perak Dinner was a success without any major glitches. Since I was having my LDT course since morning, I had to cabut early and went back to freshen up in record time of 15 mins. Upon reaching Furama, not knowing what I am supposed to do, I just made myself useful!!! Apa lagi, I got myself involved in the registration process and later ushering (half of the time, I myself got lost especially when they took away the table no). Again don't know how...I ended up helping on stage during the presentation awards. Finally, I handled my difficult task of collecting the donation envelopes. Panic sekejap when my envelopes were fewer...but managed to recover them. Phhewww!

When every guests had left, I managed to finish my es teler. Plus I get to chit chat with A.B. Sheikh. Ada ke call me first kakak...then cik...then saudari. Later when I told him I'm his junior at TPJC, then its more appropriate to call me adik!! Ha ha...

Thanks to my family members for their kind support. Our table 16 won the table prize (alas kaki..jadi lah!). I found out our 2 tables the most kecoh of all with the photo taking here and there! Thanks to 3x for his hard work in piecing up the stuff for the video presentation. I feel for you BROTHER!!!

18th November 1995 -
2 very lovely persons got married after almost 8 years of courtship, beginning with seeds of 'love' planted in the gardens of Victoria Junior College. Life has never been the same especially with the arrivals of 3 noisy MyKidZ into our lives.

Since Robbie Williams concert was cancelled, we will be celebrating our 11th anniversary with 'lucky' people at Furama Riverfront Hotel.

Year End Report Cards

Yeah..finally year end results have been handed over to us parents yesterday. We are proud of the effort that they have put in this year.

MyKidz No. 1 - Muhammad - Obtained Band 1 for Eng, Maths and Science..However, Malay has dropped to Band 3. Ni Melayu celup agaknye..

MyKidz No. 2 - Ahmad Danish - This one is truly an underdog since we parents did not have any expectation for him to excel since only just P1. He obtained Band 1 for all 3 subjects. The most surprising of all was Malay ( 97% - higher than the other 2 subjects). Teacher said that he's just 1 mark shy from getting 3rd in class. After getting 4th in class, kept asking for 4 presents since last night. Sabar Danish..Abah said wait for Christmas sale then can buy your Mask Rider toy.

Weekend Madrasah - Both boys finally passed their year end exams after almost 3 years of attending at Madrasah Aljuneid. This year, Danish did not just wrote his name but fill up the rest of the blanks (since he's able to read Malay already!).

Raya Raya with friends and family

Finally now that the kids' exams are over, we get to raya-raya. Started off last thurs..visited Shaffiq and family who were here for 2 weeks (they now dah jadi orang Perth).

We ladies cannot tahan looking at the men..asyik cakap pasal golf course lah, cars (I think) and maps of Australia. Kita yang perempuan watched this 'G.S.I' (Malay version of CSI) over at RTM 1. Kids were busy serakkan mainan all over.

Today, Saturday, we beraya at Zetty's open house in Punggol Centre (sebelah rumah Yan je!). Bryiani power..kuih and cake power..ada mini cheese cake power also!! Next stop was Busu's house in Bukit Batok. We tumpang the lorry since Abah went for his soccer game. I think our butts got burnt by sitting near the lorry's engine.

The family spirit is still going strong each year and we enjoy each other's company irregardless of each other's shortcomings (be it 'laserness' or 'blurness'). Yeah..tomorrow kita beraya lagi, this time to Woodlands!

Our 1st Korean Drama - Goong (Princess Hours)

For the past many years, I simply couldn't understand why my Chinese friends always got hook to Korean Dramas..until we started watching 'Princess Hours' on Channel U. So for the past 2 weeks (I think), we break fast and watched 'Princess Hours'. Kids also got hook. Past 2 days, I think my head hurts from watching all the remaining episodes (thanks to Fuad & friend). I did it til 3 am (Abah not around!!!). Macam cerita Cinderella..songs also my current fave!

A quote from Danish..."24th Oct will be the BEST day of his life. End of fasting!" We, parents of MyKidz are very proud of the 2 boys..1 full month of fasting completed! Next year will be Sabryna's turn..as long as she can stop sucking her thumb for 1 month, we will throw a PARTY for her!

Muhammad's July Birthday Bash

He was very happy since this year, his 'god-mother', Bibik Lin, surprised him with a birthday cake plus he get to spend the whole day with her at the Science Centre. Yeah..by now everyone must be wondering what's happening to MyKidz. We have actually lined up a report on an 'illegal' tenant for the blog. Took pictures pun..but have to postpone coz since the PC kena spyware, I had to use the APPLE of my EYE. So we postpone that story..

Here's a bit update on what we have done so far...

Last Sun, we sent off our friend, Shaffiq and family to the airport for their migration trip to Perth. Since then they have settled down well and going through the necessary details such as car and work.

Danish & Sabryna have each grown taller (judging by the clothes that we bought for Chinese New Year this year)..

Muhammad's CA2 will begin on 21st Aug so now must do some brushing up especially Malay..

We ate Durian and Nasi Ayam Penyet from Malay Village by East Coast beach today.

Abah and my tummies have very much slim down since we started resuming the exercises such as soccer playing (now it is 2 to 3 times per week), badminton session and soon tennis session. Anyway Ramadhan will be around the corner. Soon we will look like during our young days (I hope!)

Lastly, we are all looking forward to welcome Cik Mok..aka Aiza this Friday. Since the boys have no school on thurs and fri (PSLE Oral) and Sabryna planning to ponteng child care plus Maman aka Hafiz already applied for leave this Friday, I believe the entourage will be putting up at Changi Airport the whole day. Rumours has it that neither the Singapore entourage or even the one that is returning from Oman remember the flight timing..
